HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-06: Desarrollo de materiales compuestos termoplásticos reciclables

The Italian innovative SME develops and manufactures recyclable thermoplastic composite materials based on acrylic thermoplastic resin reinforced with glass or carbon fibres. The materials can be processed using standard composite manufacturing techniques, including resin infusion, without requiring dedicated retooling.

The company has developed and validated solutions addressing both material performance and circularity. Its thermoplastic composite technology has demonstrated enhanced fracture toughness compared with conventional epoxy-based composites, while recyclability has been independently certified. End-of-life recovery of fibres and resin has also been validated together with an industrial recycling partner, supported by comparative life-cycle assessment activities.

The technology has already been applied to marine structures and sports equipment. Current development activities focus on renewable energy and construction applications, including recyclable components for wind-energy systems and panels for roofing, wall and modular prefabricated structures.

The SME operates a dedicated production and prototyping facility and can support the development and demonstration of industrial-scale applications. Its experience includes participation in European and national R&D and innovation programmes.

Within the HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-06 call, the company is interested in joining a consortium addressing circular advanced materials and their transition from design towards market uptake, particularly within the energy and construction value chains.

The SME is looking for European partners to build or join a consortium for the HORIZON-CL4-2027-01-MAT-PROD-06 call.

Partners sought include:

- Universities and research organisations with expertise in advanced materials, composite technologies and Horizon Europe project coordination.

- Industrial end users, particularly wind turbine and blade manufacturers or companies active in roofing, building envelopes and modular/prefabricated construction.

- Recycling and waste-management organisations with expertise in composite material recovery and circular end-of-life solutions.

- Research and technology partners specialised in Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD), life-cycle assessment, life-cycle costing and safety assessment.

- Digital technology partners working on FAIR data, AI-supported material design and digital product passports.

Expected Role of the Partner:

- The coordinator is expected to have proven experience in preparing and managing Horizon Europe projects in the field of advanced materials and/or circular industrial technologies.

- Industrial partners should contribute application requirements, industrial use cases, testing environments and validation activities.

- Research and technology partners are expected to contribute to material development, characterisation, recycling, SSbD, LCA/LCC, safety assessment and/or digitalisation activities.

The SME is particularly interested in partners able to complement its material and manufacturing expertise and contribute to the transition from laboratory development and prototyping towards industrial demonstration and market uptake.
