Belgian University research unit is looking for potential partners on Horizon Europe call [HORIZON-CL4-2024-RESILIENCE-01-36: Advanced biomaterials for the Health Care (IA)]. This unit specializes in translational research in biomaterials for dental prostheses, from the bench to the clinic.

The Belgian University Research Unit has translational research expertise in the field of restorative and regenerative biomaterials as well as dental implants : In vitro properties and characterization Preclinical evaluation to assess biocompatibility, regenerative performance and integration Clinical trial designs, management and online monitoring Computational modeling The Research Unit is subdivided into two main research fields; The Restorative Biomaterials division directed by Prof. Amélie Mainjot The Regenerative Biomaterials and Implants Division directed by Prof. France Lambert. It looks for partners who already are or look for a consortium on HE call HORIZON-CL4-2024-RESILIENCE-01-36: Advanced biomaterials for the Health Care (IA). They can bring the following contributions: The expertise that the “restorative biomaterials” team of the d-BRU offers concerns ceramics, particularly zirconia, glass-ceramics, composite, and biomimetic materials for prostheses. The activities range from in vitro development and evaluation (mechanical, fatigue, adherence to resins and biological properties, physico-chemical characterization, toxicology, and biocompatibility) to clinical research at the University Hospital Center of Liège (all types of clinical studies), including ex-vivo analyses focused on biomaterial aging processes (such as Low-temperature Degradation). The team has specific expertise in the field of zirconia and in innovative Computer-aided Design and Manufacturing composites. The issue of the monomer release (such as BPA, a neuroendocrine disruptor) from dental composite materials is also a topic of interest in the research unit. Finally, clinical researchers are specialized in the development of new minimally invasive treatments. Relationships between the mouth and the body, particularly musculoskeletal disorders are explored.
