PhD position. Centro de Investigación del Cáncer

Más información

Lung cancer has a dismal prognosis: 95% of patients die within two years of diagnosis. Unlike other solid tumours, the management and prognosis of lung cancer has changed very little over the past 40 years. Thus, there is an urgent need for new therapeutic strategies. KRAS is aberrantly activated by mutations in 30% of NSCLC. Direct targeting of RAS has long been pursued, but with limited success.

Our group is interested in dissecting the role of oncogenic Ras signalling in lung cancer development with a focus on understanding the interplay between tumour cells and its microenvironment. More specifically, we are seeking new ways to re-educate the tumour microenvironment of KRAS-driven lung tumours in order to improve treatment of this intractable disease.

We are looking for a PhD student to join our lab. The position would suit an individual who is interested in research with potential clinical impact and enjoys working in a collaborative environment, manages their time effectively and is highly motivated by setting and reaching project milestones. Requisites of the candidate are:

- To have a Science-related degree and a Master
- Final grades 7,5 or higher
- Previous lab experience is desirable, but not essential

Our lab is based at Centro de Investigación del Cáncer (Salamanca, Spain) and the appointment is for two years in the first instance.

Candidates can informally contact Dr. Esther Castellano (ecastellano@usal.es) or submit an application (CV and motivation letter) before the end of June.
