The Melanoma Biomedical Research and Mouse Model and Cancer Laboratory at VHIR is currently seeking a postdoctoral candidate to apply to the Postdoctoral FEBS Long-Term Fellowships. We offer advanced, interdisciplinary training in the field of cancer and tumor biology, and a lively and international educational atmosphere, with excellent state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and competitive fellowships. Our research is focused in translational investigations in melanoma and other skin cancers. We combine conventional and state of the art technologies (–omic tools) together with animal models and primary human tumor samples, to study cancer (melanoma) development and progression. Our main interest is to translate our results into clinic.


JOB DESCRIPTION
Education and qualifications:
Required:
♣    These Fellowships are originally granted for one year and may be renewed for a further year up to a maximum of 3 years.
♣    Applicants must have a PhD and should normally be scientists with no more than three years of post-doctoral experience. Applicants need to be members of a FEBS Constituent Society, to be working in a laboratory in a FEBS country and to be seeking to work in a laboratory in a different FEBS country.
♣    These Fellowships are originally granted for one year and may be renewed for a further year up to a maximum of three years.
♣           Experience with animal work

Desired:
♣    Experience in melanoma and cancer metabolism
♣    Good communication skills and fluency in spoken and written English.
♣    Organized and methodical person with high motivation and initiative. Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Main responsabilities/duties:
Carry out experiments in molecular biology, signaling, animal models, metabolism profiling Labour conditions:
♣    The amount of the Fellowship will depend on the cost of living in the country visited and will include travelling expenses for the Fellow and his/her dependants. Travel costs will provide for a second-class rail fare or an economy flight between the place of residence and the host laboratory. Travel costs will not be paid if the applicant is already working at the host institute at the closing date of the call. Assistance for children may also be provided (for 1 child +14% and for 2 or more +28% on annual stipend in 2016). The amount of the Fellowship and of the allowance for children will be determined from time to time by the FEBS Fellowships Committee, in consultation with the FEBS Treasurer.
